Performance

Slenkstis_space, Vilnius

2021, March 11 to  31.

Juniper wood was burned in the gallery room daily for 20 days, with a fire lit twice at 6 AM and 6 PM. After filling the room with smoke, the doors each time were opened onto the street. The performance took place in the context of the COVID pandemic, before mass vaccination had begun

Juniperus communis, when burned, releases significant amounts of active bactericidal and antiviral substances known as phytoncides. These substances create a protective microclimate that can also enhance human immunity.
