Smudging the exhibition with juniper smoke

Performance

Studium "P", Vilnius

2020

During the exhibition, the gallery space was smudged with Juniper tree smoke. Wood was burned in the gallery's fireplace, with its doors left open and the chimney damper closed to allow smoke to enter the room. Additionally, burning Juniper firewood was periodically carried into the gallery room and around the apartment.

Juniper  wood secretes an active substance that kills bacteria and viruses. These substances contain terpenes, which strengthen immune resistance to disease. The essential oils containing these substances cleanse indoor spaces from viruses, bacteria, microbes, and fungi, including Covid-type viruses.
